God Bless the Blog/Microblog…
You know, were it not for blogging via Tumblr/Myspace (yes, I still use it on occasion) or microblogging via Twitter/Facebook, 2009 would have been a blur to me and I wouldn’t be able to properly reflect on the year.
In a nutshell, here’s what happened in ‘09 for me:
- I got off my medication at the beginning of the year, and it was a long and grueling process.
- I developed a few mini-crushes that faded as quickly as they had appeared.
- I finally… FINALLY ended the 8 year relationship that I’d been so dependent on and that had caused me to be way too complacent with everything.
- I drowned one work phone in the pool, got a replacement. That replacement is either lost somewhere in Julian’s house right now or got stolen (I’m inclined to believe the latter). The iPod my ex had gotten me years ago was also stolen.
- I had a huuuuuuge mental breakdown about a month after the end of my relationship. I’m pretty sure getting off the meds around the same time shared some of the blame.
- I helped my cat give birth to adorable kittens, then had to find homes/shelter for them quickly.
- I yelled “RUMSPRINGAAAAA” with Smash and Tony about a million times over the summer. We also chanted about beef hot links and spent a good portion of the time drinking around the pool.
- I slowly got involved with the DMR show. First, by doing simple promotion for them via Twitter or wherever. Then, by doing some tech stuff and some admin type things. What started out as a lark ended up becoming a pretty big part of my life.
- I learned (and am still learning) how to DJ, and actually did so for an audience!
- I lost a friend for a second (and I’m happy it was only for a second).
- I got to see an old friend from AZ whom I hadn’t seen in a few years.
- I made several new friends who are too awesome for words.
- I removed a piercing I’d had in for about 10 years. I chopped off my hair, and dyed it from black to purple to pink to purple to black.
- I got into a minor car accident on the way home from work one day.
- I finally moved out on my own again.
- I got bit by a gopher.
In retrospect, 2009 was an awfully eventful year for me. The big events were so freaking big (whether good or bad), that I can only really sum the whole thing up with the word ‘transitional’.
I’m not complaining. I like where I’m at right now. And I don’t think that’s something I’ve been able to say with such conviction for quite some time now:
I LIKE where I’m at right now.
The people I know, the places I go, the things I’ve been a part of, the things I’m doing… Well, I’m feeling more and more inspired every single day by all of it.
I’m living more today in my 30s than I did in all of my 20s.
I’d say that’s an accomplishment.
So let’s go, 2010. I think I’m ready for you.
