Black Friday News Round Up of the Day: Black Friday violence is as American as apple pie.

Incidents of pushing, and shoving, and trampling, and punching were reported in Rome, New York, Kissimmee, Florida, and Glendale, Arizona. An eyewitness to the feeding frenzy that ensued when her local Walmart announced $2 waffle makers captured the video below, and tweeted: “Lmao my sis almost lost her life for a $2 waffle maker!!!!”

In Myrtle Beach, a 58-year-old woman was injured after being shot in the foot during a Black Friday related robbery. In South Carolina’s sibling state, a fight at the Fayetteville Mall led to shots being fired, though no one was injured in that incident.

A possible shooting was also reported in West Des Moines, but police said shoppers were not in any immediate danger.

A particularly timely altercation took place at a Walmart in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Porter Ranch, where a “competitive shopper” pepper sprayed her fellow bargain hunters so she could get first dibs on an discounted Xbox.

“People started screaming, pulling and pushing each other, and then the whole area filled up with pepper spray,” witness Alejandra Seminario told the LA Times. “I did not want to get involved. I was too scared. I just stayed in the toy aisle.”

20 people in all were exposed to the less-than-lethal agent that has been all the rage of late.

Despite the incident, the store remained open. Twenty minutes later, pepper spray reportedly still hung in the air near the cash registers.

The symbolism was undoubtedly lost on many.
